In Historic Jamestown, you will understand history and your kids will learn a little of the history and past. Historic Jamestown is situated at the original site of the Colony and it is administered by the National Park Service and APVA Preservation Virginia. An interesting fact, this is a living history museum which is being upheld by the State of Virginia. Here, you will learn how it was to live during the 17th century.
Things to do and see in Historic Jamestown
In Jamestown, you will be able to watch a real archeologist digging the site of the 1607 fort. Kids will have the chance to stroll around the Jamestown settlement and walk amidst the ruins of the original buildings within the town. Even the original church tower of the 17th century is there to see!
There are characters that are dressed like people would look like from the past that roam around Jamestown. Kids will have the chance to talk to costumed glass-blowers at the Glasshouse. Your kids will feel like they are walking in the middle of history.
In the settlement, there are replicas of the three ships the brought the 1607 settlers. Recreations of the fort that early people built is also there to see as well as with the Powhatan village. There are some costumed interpreters that bring history to life in the huge outdoor areas of the Jamestown Settlement.
