Savannah Georgia Tour
While in Georgia on a recent family vacation, our family decided set out to take a city tour of Savannah. This city is a magnificent city, full of history….a great city to tour.
Savannah is one of the most beautiful southern cities that we have ever visited.
Trolley Tour
When entering Savannah Georgia, the first place to head is the Visitors Center. Each tour company has trolleys departing from the visitors center regularly. Each tour company offers purchase of tour tickets and loading of the trolleys right in the parking area of the visitor center.
We chose the Gray Line Tour Line for our tour of Savannah. The trolley tour on Gray Line was priced very reasonably and offered hop on/ hop off service throughout the city all day long. The price was a bargain as we are a group of 5….
The streets of the city are lined with trees with Spanish Moss hanging from them. There are 22 city squares in the city and all are as pretty as the one shown in the video below. Each of the town squares has is own history and the tour guides expound on that history as the tour continue.
Here’s a video of one of the squares in the town – these are beautiful tree-lined squares full of history.
Did someone say Paula Deen Y’ALL? Well, we did not eat at the famous Lady and Sons restaurant (not enough time this trip), but we did walk past it as we toured the city by foot later in the day. The Old Savannah Tours company is the exclusive home of the Paula Deen tours and offer several different tour packages that include a meal at this restaurant.

Carriage Tour
Another great city tour is the Horse drawn carriage tour! You will see the city of Savannah as it was seen in the early days. The carriage tours cover a big portion of the historic district. A carriage tour is a more intimate tour of the city – and you are on a horse-drawn carriage. The carriage tours depart from the downtown historic district.
City of Savannah Walking Tours
There are many walking tours available for different ages and different people. Savannah Dan Walking Tours, one of the most popular there is, offers an excursion with Savannah Dan, a local Southerner and a US veteran and former deputy sheriff. Another popular option, Explore Savannah! has the same idea, with Bobby Davis, also a local resident of the city guiding the tourists. The tours are private, and can be arranged, depending on the number of tourists or depending on the size of group. They also have different themes, depending on the interests of the tourists.
